Our Commitment to your Protection

As a dedicated Dental Team, we are concerned about our patient's protection from infectious diseases. Each time a patient visits our office; a very special trust is placed in our hands. We do not take this lightly. That is why we are committed to providing maximum protection for you against any kind of infectious diseases.

Many hours have gone into the design of our Infection Control System. Infection control is an evolving science, therefore we are constantly evaluating and updating our procedures and techniques. The use of gloves and masks for all dental procedures are some of the more prominent steps that are taken to ensure your safety. You might still wonder about what goes on behind the scenes and what steps are taken that are not so obvious to you, the patient.

After each patient, the rooms are thoroughly wiped with a surface disinfectant. Several patients have commented that our lights in the treatment room do not look clean. This is the residue left from the disinfectant, which must be wiped on wet and allowed to air dry,

The instruments are put through a system of ultrasonic scrubbing and then sterilized with a large pressurized steam oven called an autoclave. Many of our patients have asked us if we are sterilizing our high-speed handpieces. Like all other dental instruments, they too are being steam sterilized after each patient's use. The instruments and high-speed handpieces are packaged and handled in such a way that ensures they are never touched before actual set-up in the treatment room. When they are touched, it is with gloved hands. For instruments where corrosion may be a problem we also have dry heat sterilization, which is just as effective as the steam sterilization but takes somewhat longer.

Whenever possible, we use disposable materials, which means they are only used once and then thrown out. For example, the prophy angles used to polish your teeth are thrown out after each use.

Our entire staff has been immunized against Hepatitis B, which virtually eliminates the possibility of the doctor or staff from transferring Hepatitis B to our patients or vice versa.

There are many fine details which are entailed in our Infection Control System, and our staff members are thoroughly trained in infection control procedures.

We hope, by making you aware of what measures are being taken on your behalf, your trust and confidence in our infection control procedures will make your visit a little more comfortable.
